Dear Friends of Queen of Peace School, Catholic education has been a part of my life since birth. From grammar school at St. Michael the Archangel Elementary School in Orland Park, Illinois, through high school at Brother Rice in Chicago and seminary at Mt. Angel, I am a beneficiary of the long tradition of Catholic education. Throughout my ministry as a priest, I have been fortunate enough to spend time in many parishes with schools. Here at Queen of Peace, I find myself once again in the lucky position of having a parish with a dynamic school. This year, Queen of Peace School has adopted the theme, “Catholic Schools – The Good News in Catholic Education.” It’s not just about “Catholic” education, but formation on a spiritual, human and emotional level. There is no substitute for it. The faculty and staff work to ensure that each child is prepared to meet the challenges of living in today’s society. In addition to work in the classroom, students are engaged in service projects that impact lives here in Salem (the Table of Plenty) and abroad (Pimpollo). Queen of Peace School is an essential part of our community. All of us benefit from it – children, families and individuals. I hope that you will join me in supporting this important mission of our parish. Yours in Christ, Fr. Tim Mockaitis |
